Our 2013 Mission Statement:

  1. We will seek to make God's love expressed in Jesus Christ, known to all through caring and service, expressing our cultural diversity, and challenging injustice.
  2. We will encourage the spiritual and holistic well-being of our church community, promoting the living of clean lives, the use of personal gifting and a lifestyle that cares for God's creation.
  3. We will aim to reach every person in our community proclaiming the Good News of God's love and mercy, defending the defenceless, helping the helpless and expressing our faith in God through Jesus Christ.
  4. We will aim to be a resource to our community and Christian organisations both within the UK and beyond.

Good News to the poor (Luke 4:18) This is our 2013 motto.

Just Pencils (and some cool miniature pencil carvings)

Fun

This story is about a pencil maker who told a pencil five important lessons just before putting it in the box:

A Pencil

  1. Everything you do will always leave a mark.
  2. You can always correct the mistakes you make.
  3. What's important is what's inside you.
  4. In life, you will undergo painful sharpenings, which will only make you better.
  5. To be the best pencil, you must allow yourself to be held and guided by the hand that holds you.

Reflected Living Light ~ 1 John 3 (The Letter of John Part Three)

News

Reflected Living Light ~ 1 John 3Assistant Pastor Warren McNeil continues his teaching on John's letter. We reflect on the clear FACT that we are God's children. We reflect on how our fellow brothers and sisters are required to be TREATED as God's children by US. We also reflect on HOW we can reflect… as WE are God's children. This then, is Reflected Living Light.

Ministry Partners for Noah's Ark baby and toddler group

Ministry Partnering

babyMinistry Partners needed for Noah's Ark, GBC's successful baby and toddler group. We need someone who is 'Safe to Grow' checked (or willing to be checked) and who is willing to lead the team or help with it's running every Tuesday morning. The only qualification needed is to adore (or even like) very young children. Apart from playing with the little ones and generally making yourself very useful you also get to chat to the parents/carers in a warm and friendly environment AND drink coffee/tea AND have biscuits!

Two other tasks

  1. Can you bank the group's money once every half term? You need to be (cough!) honest and able to count.
  2. Are you able to help set up the chairs around the walls and stage on the previous evening, ie. Monday evening or before the session starts on Tuesday morning

Church Website Administrator

Ministry Partnering

Andy WilsonWe are looking for Ministry Partners to help update the contents of GBC's three websites. These are: the one you are looking at now, our video channel GBCweb.tv and our evangelistic channel jesusinside.org.uk.

Within this team ministry we are also looking for members who can write articles about christian related topics, take decent quality photos, interview people and write articles about them for our websites and for their sister publication, the Church Magazine.

Training on how to update the websites will be given and you can work at anytime and from any computer connected to the Internet.

If you would like to know more or to see a demonstration of how easy it is to update the text, graphics and videos in Joomla websites please contact the Ministry Partners Coordinator or Andy Wilson.

Video Camera Operators

Ministry Partnering

cameramanNo previous experience of camerawork is required but if you do have some it would be helpful. Full training and onward mentoring is provided. You need to have a good eye for a picture, to be able to stand up for an hour, be reliable and be willing to learn and try out new techniques. The role would be especially suitable for those interested in visual media and communications.

Once initial camera training has been completed (only a few hours) the additional time commitment is negligible as most of the work happens during Sunday morning meetings. You would be on a rota along with our other camera operators. Currently, the emphasis is on producing first class video and audio programmes of GBC's excellent Bible teachings. The vision for the future is to produce videos from more genres, such as the arts, news reports, evangelistic videos, short documentaries, interviews and drama.

Contact the Ministry Partners Coordinator or Andy Wilson for full details or an informal chat.
