If I Were the Devil

Posted by: WebAuthor in Untagged  on

I was recently sent this PowerPoint presentation by an American friend and although it is quite negative it is also very thought provoking. Hopefully it will help you to think about the problems (some of which happen in the UK) and pray with enthusiasm for God to overturn them.  Here is the presentation.

Pastor David Wise says about this, "Overall it does feel like a very negative perspective perhaps coming out of the premillenial dispensational theology that is common in the USA."

So there you have it - a thumbs down from our Pastor.

Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tyre?

Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tyre?

I heard this on Premier Radio today and thought the question was so powerful I had to post it on the GBC blog.

I hope you are encouraged by it.

The Good Granny Guide

Posted by: WebAuthor in Untagged  on

Tonight we celebrated wife Lynda's birthday and our two daughters and husbands came over to celebrate it with pancakes. Yes, pancakes should have been on Shrove Tuesday yesterday but Lynda was working in the evening.

Breakfast Party with Barnabas

Posted by: WebAuthor in Untagged  on

Tonight at Barnabas (the Monday evening Verulam Road discipleship group) we had a breakfast party! Nine people were with us, although sometimes there are as many as 15.

We started the evening by watching the final module in the highly stimulating Geoff Shattock "WorkTalk" video course about being a Christian in the workplace.

Bible Teaching Audio Recordings

Posted by: WebAuthor in Untagged  on

Pastor David Wise is widely recognised for his solid biblical teaching. I have been publishing Pastor David's notes of the teaching sessions in text format on our website since January 2005. From late November 2006 I started adding audio recordings but the quality was low due to the recording equipment being a photographic still camera fed by a built in microphone. All that has changed now!

Men's Breakfast

Eight bold men of Greenford Baptist Church decided to live dangerously today and had a hearty fry-up in a local cafe.

New Year's Eve Celebration

Posted by: WebAuthor in Untagged  on

I really enjoyed the New Year's Eve Celebration in our lovely warm church building - it was a fantastic night out with around 100 people - mostly church family but with a few visitors. The doors opened at 10.00pm and we were welcomed with tea, coffee and mince pies (enough already)!

Dancing in Church!

Posted by: WebAuthor in Untagged  on

This Sunday morning Innocent Haroon Mason, who is a recent member of the Leadership Training Group (LTG), lead the worship section of the meeting for the first time. It felt like we were worshipping in a different church altogether!

"Tell your story" - How it Went

I have the privilege to report how excellently Greyham Bryant's "Tell your story" session went at the Barnabas discipleship group tonight.

Getting Married

Posted by: WebAuthor in Untagged  on

I'm delighted to be attending our daughter Sami's wedding today - she is getting married to Dean in a few hours. I have got my father-of-the-bride speech all ready (isn't the Internet a wonderful research tool) and my camera packed to record the happy occasion.

Persecution of Christians

Posted by: WebAuthor in Untagged  on

We frequently hear in the Christian media that our brothers and sisters in Christ are being persecuted for their faith - in many countries of the world. The effects of persecution depends on the country and what group or religion is doing the persecuting.
