Here is the simple explanation of what it means to be a Community Member.

1) USERS

People who visIt the website and browse around without logging in are called Users. They can read, watch or listen to around 95% of the content items on the Greenford Baptist Church website, e.g. written articles, videos, photos, sound files etc.

If you would like to have 100% access of the GBC website you can become a Community Member.

2) COMMUNITY MEMBERS

The next level up from being a User is to become a Community Member. This is greatly encouraged as on-line community members are the heart and soul of the website.

You can create a User Name and Password online and view the extra 5% of the content items. However, this level does not give you rights to create content items - see Author, Editor and Publisher below. If you would like to become a Community Member click here

3) AUTHOR

If you would like Author rights please ask WebAuthor to upgrade your Community Member status.

At the Author level you can write articles in the GBC blog and other sections in the website, however you you cannot edit them once they have been saved or published - this task can only be done by an Editor or Publisher - see below). When you Login with Author rights you will see a small "page" icon followed by the word "new..." at the bottom of some of the web pages. If you would like to write an article click the "new..." icon to open the website text editor. Here are the basic instructions on how to use the text editor.

Many people prefer to compose their articles in their normal word processor such as Microsoft Word, using its spell checker. When your content is complete you can copy and past it into the website text editor described below - using the "Paste from Word" button (which removes all the undesirable Microsoft Word formatting).

4) EDITOR

If you would like Editor rights please ask WebAuthor

If you have Editor rights you will be able to do all of the above as well as editing or continuing to add to your own and other people's articles — even though they have been saved. This is very useful for correcting errors that were previously missed. For obvious reasons this is highly restricted.

5) PUBLISHER

If you would like to be a Publisher please ask WebAuthor

If you have Publisher rights you will be able to do all of the above plus access the previously hidden "Publish" command. This will enable you to publish (make visible) an article on the website immediately - without having to wait for WebAuthor to approve it for publication. For obvious reasons this level is highly restricted.

6) MODERATOR

A Moderator is another name for a Publisher but it refers specifically to the future planned GBC Forum pages (special web pages where people can post conversations, comments and replies). A Moderator has to approve articles before they appear on Forum pages.
