Introduction
-
These events took place around 1000 BC, Saul was Israel’s first king, however he had “rejected the word of the Lord” and was rejected by God as king, although he continued in office
-
David become a fugitive in fear of his life
Keilah Saved (v 1-6)
-
Abiathar was the only surviving priest
-
Situation was very serious because both this year’s food store and next year’s seed were at risk
-
The Philistines were a numerous and powerful force
-
But this was God’s battle
David Escapes (v 7-14)
-
Saul was obsessed with killing David, hence calling up his entire army to besiege one of his own towns!
-
The reality was that God was in charge!
