Introduction

These events took place around 1000 BC, Saul was Israel’s first king, however he had “rejected the word of the Lord” and was rejected by God as king, although he continued in office

David become a fugitive in fear for his life

Saul went into the cave to empty his bowels

Beware of the temptation to extend God’s word

The cutting away of part of the royal robe was a rejection of Saul as king

Saul was helpless, David was in the place of power
