Introduction

These events took place around 1000 BC, Saul was Israel’s first king, however he had “rejected the word of the Lord” and was rejected by God as king, although he continued in office

We have seen David leave Israel for Philistia as a fugitive in fear of his life from Saul
David Rejected (v 1—11)
Ziklag Destroyed (30 v 1—8)

This was the result of David’s own actions and choices

David did not blame God instead he drew deeply on Him and actively sought His will

This was a key moment in David’s life
