Introduction
  • We continue this seasonal series by looking at some events that took place about a month after Jesus was born
  • We see the ordinary suddenly transformed by the intervention of people who were listening to God
Jesus' Presentation (v 21-24)
  • Mary and Joseph obediently followed what God required of them
  • Jesus was not redeemed but consecrated to the Lord
Simeon (v 25-35)
  • Simeon was an ordinary person who had given his life totally over to serving God
  • He was guided by the Spirit to be in the right place at the right time Simeon (v 25-35)
  • Simeon saw that Jesus was salvation for ALL people
  • People will be either exalted or humbled depending on their response to God's salvation
Anna (v 36-40)
  • Anna was listening to God and was in the right place at the right time
Application
  • What have we learnt this morning
  • The importance of allowing ourselves to be guided by the Holy Spirit
  • You are never too old to serve God
  • There are only two options in our response to Jesus
